By Woody Cumbie The Bottom Line

1. Size up yourself before you size up the competition

KNOW YOURSELF. If you know your strengths and weaknesses, then your competitors won't have an advantage over you. During competition and practice, you will know where to work harder.

2. Don't let the failures of others block your shot at success

PERSEVERE. Even your own failures will help you in future attempts. You can avoid other people's mistakes.

3. Let your former victories guide you towards future triumphs

EXPERIENCE. You can not buy it! It comes with time/practice. You can also learn from other people's victories.

4. Don't be handcuffed by traditional thinking

ADAPT. Listen to others who know how. However, you now know #'s 1, 2 & 3. If there's a way that works for you, even if it's different and non-traditional, use it!

5. Find the courage to stand alone

GUTS. If not you, Who? If not now, When? The road to success is the least traveled path since it's full of obstacles.

6. Don't forget who brought you to the party

HUMILITY. Give credit to where credit is due. You didn't get there alone. It might be God, hard work, parents/coaches, teammates, etc. Just remember that if you share the credit, it will come back to you tenfold.
